In 1948, Vito Cambio arrived in America on the Conte di Savoia steamship. Like many immigrants, he brought more than just luggage; he brought a culture he wanted to share. He named his business after the ship that carried him to a new life, creating a place where "familiarity" was the foundation of everything he did.
Years later, another young Italian immigrant and Army veteran, Michael Dicosola, walked through those same doors. Michael’s work ethic caught Vito’s eye immediately. Through years of grit and saving every penny, Michael eventually purchased the company. Today, Michael remains the driving force of the shop, working side-by-side with his sons, Frank and Franco.
Walking into our shop feels like stepping back into 1948. We don’t have "Instagram walls" or sterile, modern decor. We believe in the vintage vibe of a real Italian market - where the focus is on the great food and the person across the counter. But "old-school" doesn't mean standing still.
While we’ve built our own custom mobile ordering system to serve you faster, we also keep the menu exciting with items that have become local legends:
• The "Frank Sub": Created by Frank and one of our best customers, this sandwich is a masterpiece. It combines the bold meats of a classic Italian sub with the fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, and balsamic vinegar of a Caprese—all perfectly toasted. It’s the sandwich that inspired a whole new era of our menu.
• The Family Dinner: We aren't just a lunch spot. Our mission is to help you bring the Italian tradition of the family dinner table to your own home. Whether it’s a quick sub or our famous fresh homemade lasagnas to bake for your family, we want you to be "wowed" by the authenticity.
From University students and local residents to the medical professionals at the hospital, our customers are our neighbors. When a local event falls through or a caterer fails, we are the ones who step in to make it right and get your people fed.
